In this blog post, I will put my 2 cents in on the what I think is the 5 Best Membership Softwares to consider buying in 2019 if you want to start your own membership sites.
To keep it simple I will do a Pros and Cons evaluation.
1. Members Kit
This is my top pick because of its simplicity & ease of use to get set up. This is SaaS software that I personally use. I also like the fact that it’s a one-off price, so you don’t have to worry about any monthly fees. Pay once and it’s yours to use forever.
Members Kit was developed by software creator Brett Rutecky. Brett Rutecky is a well known marketer and software creator. He has developed numerous WP plugins and SaaS software over the years. Members Kit is his latest SaaS released in December 2018.
PRICE: $67 (one-time)
This is possibly the easiest way I’ve found yet to create a membership site. And trust me, I’ve tried a lot in the past. Comes with an autoresponder so you can build a list and follow up with them.
- Get paid MONTHLY just by sharing YOUR interests with others
- Effortlessly create stunning, recurring income sites in 5-10 minutes flat with NO previous experience
- No hobby? No problem – we’ll GIVE you premium video training in 4 popular niches you can sell as your own
- Tap into a $275 Billion – and growing – market of unlimited buyers
To be honest I can’t say anything bad about this software. It’s the easiest I’ve ever used to get set up and there is even templates already done for you, all you have to do is edit them.
This is another Plugin that I personally use.
OptimizeMember is a WP plugin that comes bundled with OptimizePress which is a page builder plugin designed for marketers.
With the OptimizePress
With the Core Package, you can have up to 3 membership sites on the sites you own and run.
All OptimizePress packages are charged one-time and do not automatically rebill. You can choose to extend your support & updates after 1 year from $39*
There are 3 different packages to choose from. Core, Publisher, and Pro.
PRICE: $97 (one-time) Core
You can protect your pages and then sell access to this content through their supported payment/gateway integrations. They have a pretty good selection of Autoresponders and payment integrations.
unlimitednumber of membership levels (system comes with 10 as standard and this can be increased with one simple modification)
- Create an unlimited number of “packages” to sell access to specific content (this works in a similar way to levels but is an easy way for you to give access to a particular download which is also protected with this “package”)
- Protect any page or post on your site so that only users with specific access (that you sell them) will be able to view your content
- Integrate with a range of payment gateways (see below) to process payments and deliver your buyers to a secure members area (logins will be automatically delivered to them via email)
- Add your buyers to your autoresponder list (see integrations)
- Drip feed content to your buyers over days or weeks
- Upload files to your WordPress site to be protected by OPtimizeMember and only allow access to specific levels or packages
- Fully integrated with OptimizePress so you can easily create order buttons, login forms, download elements and much more with a few clicks inside our OptimizePress interface
If you are not tech savvy, it make take you a while to set this up. It can get kind of complicated to get it going but if you feel uncomfortable with tech stuff I would hire someone to do it for you.
MemberMouse™ is an easy to use WordPress membership plugin that allows you to sell products, subscriptions and memberships,
I have not used MemberMouse™ personally, but I have some friends that do and they like it a lot for the rich features and stats it has. With that said, most of my friends are tech savvy like me.
PRICE: $19.95/monthly (Starter Package up to 1,000 members)
MemberMouse provides a flexible platform, with absolutely no programming required. MemberMouse gets you up and running quickly, and handles many of the common tasks in your business, freeing you to focus on your value proposition.
- Customer Management
- Protected Member’s Area
- Support Automation
- Reporting and Analytics
Again this is another WP plugin that has a learning curve, so it may take a while to get the hang of using it at first if you are not tech savvy. The MemberMouse plugin has a monthly fee for all packages.
4. MEMBER PRESS
MemberPress is one of the most popular WordPress membership plugins.
It’s an easy to use WordPress Membership Plugin. It will help you to instantly start charging your users for access to your content.
MemberPress will help you confidently create, manage and track membership subscriptions and sell digital download products. In addition to these features, MemberPress will allow you manage your members by granting and revoking their access to posts, pages, videos, categories, tags, feeds, communities, digital files and more based on what memberships they belong to.
PRICE: Business Edition $99/Year
I haven’t use this one myself, so I’m just going on what I’ve been told about it. They say that it can automatically setup pricing, login, account, and thank you pages for your users. Adding membership plans is also very straight forward.
- Easy To Set Up
- Content Access Control
- Content Dripping
- Payment Gateways
MemberPress only supports the three most popular payment gateways. It lacks integrations with some other popular services. You may have to hire a developer to integrate a third-party service you would like to use.
5. S2 MEMBER
S2Member is a popular free WordPress membership plugin. It also has a P
This is another plugin that I have not tried myself yet. And some people like it and others don’t.
You can learn more about s2 Member here.
PRICE: FREE, and you can upgrade to the Pro version for a single site license costs $89. For unlimited
The s2Member base plugin is free. Anyone can download and give it a try. It is limited in terms of features and support but gives you a good starting point.
- Free Base Plugin
- Content Dripping
- Payment Gateways
- Documentation And Support
Some say it’s a bit difficult to use and wasn’t very user-friendly. Free version is limited to 4 membership levels, only supports PayPal and no drip feeding.
I think if you are a beginner to membership software or plugins and you want to get started in the fastest way possible then Members Kit is the way to go.
I hope my post 5 Best Membership Plugins and Softwar to consider buying in 2019 helped you make a decision on which could be best for your needs.
There are a lot more choices out there and you can research those if you choose to as well. These were just the top ones I’m most familur with.
